Ryan O’Neal’s Death Certificate Reveals He Suffered for Years From an Illness That Eventually Took His Life

Hollywood legend Ryan O’Neal, famed for roles in “Love Story” and “Paper Moon,” passed away at 82, as confirmed by son Patrick on December 8, 2023. Patrick shared on social media, “My dad passed away peacefully today… He is a Hollywood legend. Full stop.”

Two weeks post his passing, O’Neal’s death certificate disclosed the cause: congestive heart failure. The document revealed he battled “cardiomyopathy” for an extended period. O’Neal was under care at St. John’s Medical in Los Angeles, succumbing to the progressive weakening of heart function.

Daughter Tatum expressed deep grief, stating, “I loved him very much and feel fortunate that we concluded our relationship on good terms; I will miss him eternally.”

O’Neal, survived by four children, was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park. The death certificate listed no additional contributing factors, marking the final chapter for the Hollywood icon.
