Linda Meyers was caught in a sudden downpour one evening and sought shelter at a famous cafe. However, the porter and manager, Simon, rejected her, mocking her disheveled appearance and insinuating she couldn’t afford to dine there. Humiliated, Linda left, but the next day, Simon had an unpleasant surprise.
The cafe owner introduced Linda as a potential investor, and when Simon recognized her, he froze in shock. Linda smiled, revealing she was the woman he had turned away. “You have a lovely establishment,” she said, “and my husband and I are happy to buy it.”
The following day, Linda and her husband began overseeing the cafe’s operations. Linda approached Simon with news: “We’ve decided to demote you to a waiter,” she explained. “Your treatment of me was unacceptable.” Simon, now humiliated, reluctantly accepted the change.
Days later, a poor woman entered the cafe, unable to pay for her meal. Simon, remembering his own lesson in humility, paid for her bill. The woman, impressed by his kindness, assured him he’d return to management one day. Moments later, Linda appeared. “She’s right,” Linda said, “You’ve learned your lesson. You’re back to being manager.”
Simon, grateful and humbled, returned to his position with a newfound appreciation for kindness and humility. From then on, he treated every customer and staff member with care, helping the cafe thrive even more.
