When Harry’s grandmother passed away, he and his brother Walter were summoned to the lawyer’s office. Walter was excited, expecting a large inheritance. But all they received was the family home, and no trace of jewelry or money. Furious, Walter stormed off, wanting nothing to do with the old house. Harry, on the other hand, remembered his grandmother’s dying wish: to rebuild the house in memory of their grandfather.
Though he had little money and debts to pay, Harry decided to honor her wish. With some savings and help from a friend, he began renovations himself. One day, while fixing the sewage line, he uncovered a hidden hatch in the front yard. Curiosity led him down into a small underground room, where he found a wooden chest with a letter on top.
The letter was from his late grandfather. It praised Harry for fulfilling their final wish and instructed him to take the letter to the family lawyer. Inside the chest were family mementos and a box of jewelry. Overwhelmed, Harry realized the true inheritance was tied to love, not expectation.
The lawyer smiled when Harry returned with the letter. “Your grandfather always believed it would be you,” he said. He then revealed a hidden bank account with $300,000 left by Harry’s grandfather, meant only for the grandson who rebuilt the house.
Harry used part of the money to pay debts, donated to elder charities, and rebuilt the home. He started a café with his wife and moved into his grandparents’ house.
His obedience and love changed his life forever.
