On Valentine’s Day, Cora Morales excitedly prepared a romantic dinner for her husband, Eric, hoping to surprise him. Dressed in an old red dress he once gifted her, she made his favorite dishes and left a special gift on the table. She had spent the day carefully planning the evening.
Eric, overwhelmed with work and financial stress, came home angry. Instead of appreciating her effort, he lashed out, criticizing her for wasting money, insulting her cooking, and yelling loud enough to wake their triplets. He even threw her gift on the floor in frustration.
Hurt and angry, Cora told Eric they were out of diapers and stormed out to buy them, leaving him to watch the kids. As time passed and she didn’t return, he grew more irritated, planning to call her.
Then the doorbell rang. Instead of Cora, a police officer stood there, delivering devastating news—Cora had died in a car accident on her way to the store. Eric was in shock and called a neighbor to care for the children.
At the morgue, he broke down when he saw her body. Returning home, he found the still-decorated dining table and remembered the gift he’d discarded. With trembling hands, he opened it.
Inside, he found two plane tickets to Hawaii and a heartfelt letter. Cora had secretly gotten a job to support him and had planned a surprise trip to ease his burden.
Crushed with guilt, Eric grieved deeply. Every Valentine’s Day, he now visits her grave, speaking to her and wishing he had apologized.
