When Stella returned from her business trip, she checked her security footage to ensure everything was fine. To her dismay, she saw her neighbors, the Jacobs, having a 4th of July party in her backyard without permission. They had been constant nuisances, often complaining about noise from her pool construction.
Furious, Stella confronted Mrs. Jacobs, who dismissed her concerns. Determined to take action, Stella printed photos of the trespassing and posted them around the neighborhood with a warning about trespassers. The neighborhood buzzed with scandal.
“People are watching, babe,” Nathan said, glancing at the houses.
“That’s the point,” Stella replied.
The Jacobs confronted Stella, demanding she take down the posters. Instead, Stella called the police and showed them the footage. The police warned the Jacobs, who left angrily.
“What the hell is this?” Mrs. Jacobs demanded, shoving one of the posters in Stella’s face.
“It’s a warning to my neighbors about trespassers. It seemed like the responsible thing to do.”
“You need to take these down right now!” she yelled.
“Or what?” Stella asked, crossing her arms. “You’ll just call the cops on me again?”
Fuming, the Jacobs left. The next morning, Stella continued posting the photos, ensuring the entire neighborhood was aware of the trespassing incident. By noon, the Jacobs’ house had become the epicenter of a scandal.
Feeling vindicated, Stella enjoyed the newfound peace. A few days later, her kind neighbor Mrs. Thompson visited, offering support and scones, affirming that standing up for herself was the right thing to do.
“It’s important to stand up for yourself, especially when others think they can take advantage,” Mrs. Thompson said.
