My MIL Paid My Boss to Get Me Fired So I Would Be a ‘Better Wife’ – I Made Her Regret It

$2,000 to my boss. That’s the price my mother-in-law, Joyce, paid to end my career and make me a “better wife.” When your MIL tries to sabotage your job, would you get mad or get even? I chose option three: orchestrate an elaborate revenge to teach her an unforgettable lesson.

Joyce, my old-fashioned MIL, couldn’t stand that I, Tina, a career-oriented woman, had found success as a bridal boutique manager. She believed women belonged in the kitchen. So, she paid my boss, Mr. Lincoln, to fire me.

When Mr. Lincoln showed me the check, I was shocked but quickly concocted a plan. I convinced Alvin, my supportive husband, to help me. We visited Joyce, and I pretended to be laid off. Her satisfaction was evident.

Then, we upped the ante. Alvin told Joyce he was laid off too, and we asked to move in with her. Panic-stricken, she confessed her actions, apologizing profusely.

I revealed the ruse, explaining the importance of mutual respect and support in a modern marriage. Joyce’s realization was profound. She apologized, promising to change.

Since then, our relationship has improved significantly. Joyce even started showing interest in my career. Sometimes, a little dose of their own medicine is all it takes to open someone’s eyes.
