Penelope reluctantly agrees to let her twin girls, Ava and Blair, spend time with their grandparents, Paul and Linda, hoping to get some alone time with her husband, Seth. But when she calls to check on them, she discovers something horrific.
Penelope was uneasy about the visit, fearing Linda might reveal the twins’ adoption. Despite her concerns, she allowed the girls to stay, thinking it would be a good family bonding experience.
When they arrived, Linda suggested the girls sleep in the shed. “It’s going to be a little adventure!” she said. However, later that evening, Penelope received a distressing call from her daughters. “Mom, we’re scared,” Ava whispered, mentioning weird noises and sharp hay poking their skin.
Furious, Penelope rushed to her in-laws’ house. Confronting Linda, she demanded an explanation. Linda coldly replied, “These children need to learn their place. They’re adopted. They’re not real family.” Penelope, shaking with anger, took her daughters home, vowing never to let them return unless treated equally.
The next day, Seth confronted his parents, declaring, “Until you can show that you love and respect all your grandchildren equally, you won’t be seeing any of us.” The confrontation led to a family rift, with Seth’s brother also refusing to visit their parents. A month later, Linda’s 70th birthday went uncelebrated, her regret serving as a stark reminder of her actions.
