Sarah always trusted Ethan, but her world shattered when she discovered his shocking lie about paternity leave. Standing in the nursery, surrounded by baby toys, their future seemed bright. “I can’t believe we’re finally doing this,” Sarah said, excited.
Ethan’s smile faltered. “Yeah, it’ll be amazing.”
“Did you talk to your boss about paternity leave?” she asked.
“He wasn’t supportive,” Ethan replied. “He wants me to go to another city for a project. If I refuse, I might lose my job.”
Sarah felt a pang of disappointment but stayed strong. “Maybe we can make the most of the time we have together,” she suggested.
A few days later, at the grocery store, Sarah bumped into Amanda, Ethan’s boss’s wife. Amanda mentioned Ethan’s paternity leave had been approved. Shocked, Sarah realized Ethan had lied.
At home, she checked Ethan’s phone, finding messages from his parents urging him to help with their house renovations instead of staying home. Devastated, Sarah felt betrayed.
That evening, Ethan came home, looking distraught. “I got fired,” he announced. He found a letter from Sarah, revealing she knew about his lie and had informed his boss.
Ethan read: “You lied about the paternity leave. I can’t trust you with our future. I’ve sent the messages to your boss. I’m filing for divorce. Goodbye.”
Sarah left for her parents’ house, heartbroken but resolute. Her mom comforted her. “You need to think about what’s best for you and the baby.”
Sarah knew it was time to start a new chapter built on truth and integrity.
