My Entitled Ex-landlord Refuses to Return a Washing Machine and Dishwasher I Bought — I Taught Him a Good Lesson

When Paige moved into her old apartment, she noticed the lack of a washing machine and dishwasher. Mr. Robinson, her landlord, dismissed her concerns, suggesting the laundromat down the street. Determined, Paige bought her own appliances.

Months later, Paige found a better apartment and decided to move. As she was removing her washing machine and dishwasher, Mr. Robinson barged in, claiming the appliances belonged to the apartment now and threatened to deduct the cost from her security deposit.

Furious, Paige contacted her friend Kevin, a handyman. They devised a plan: remove the essential parts of the appliances, leaving the shells behind. The next day, Mr. Robinson discovered the appliances were non-functional and called Paige, begging her to return the parts.

Paige played dumb but eventually agreed to meet. Mr. Robinson offered to return her full security deposit plus $200 for the inconvenience. When Paige arrived, Mr. Robinson anxiously handed her the cash. Paige handed over the box of parts but kept the power cords, claiming she had misplaced them.

“Remember, Mr. Robinson, you tried to take my things first. Consider this a lesson in respecting other people’s property,” Paige said, leaving him speechless.

Later, Paige celebrated with Kevin, feeling victorious and ready for new beginnings. The experience taught her the importance of standing up for herself and respecting others’ property.
