When Hannah’s Dad arrived at her 25th birthday party with her best friend, Jessica, on his arm, she was determined to make him pay. Shocked and hurt, she watched her mother cry as her father flaunted his new relationship. “This is MY LIFE,” he declared.
A month later, at her graduation, Hannah’s plan unfolded. She had reconnected with Tom, an old family friend. When her Mom entered the hall with Tom, looking stunning and happy, Dad and Jessica were taken aback.
“Tom? What are you doing here?” Dad asked.
“Supporting a dear friend,” Tom replied, smiling at Mom.
Throughout the evening, Mom and Tom laughed and danced, clearly enjoying each other’s company. Dad’s frustration was palpable, especially as Jessica grew uncomfortable.
By the end of the night, Mom hugged Hannah, tears of joy in her eyes. “Thank you for everything, sweetheart. I’m so proud of you.”
“I’m proud of you too, Mom. You deserve all the happiness in the world,” Hannah replied.
Her plan had worked. Dad realized too late what he had lost. Meanwhile, Mom found happiness with Tom, and Hannah couldn’t have been happier for her.
