Ella had been with Ian for two years and felt a proposal was imminent when he planned a romantic getaway to Santorini. Excitement built as Ian dropped hints and browsed engagement rings online.
Upon arrival, the magical setting heightened Ella’s anticipation. However, the next morning, Ian announced that his best friend, Mark, had unexpectedly joined them. Initially supportive, Ella soon felt sidelined as Ian and Mark spent all their time together, leaving her feeling like a third wheel.
Ella’s friend, Rae, advised her to express her feelings. Although Ian promised alone time, Mark’s constant presence continued. One evening, Mark invited them to a beach party, disrupting their dinner plans. Ella declined and watched them leave, feeling invisible and disheartened.
The next morning, Ella hatched a plan. She persuaded the hotel manager to help her set up an unconventional revenge. When Ian and Mark returned, they were led to a honeymoon suite filled with rose petals and candles, with a velvet box on the bed.
“You wanted a proposal, Ian? Mark is clearly the most important person to you here,” Ella said, her voice trembling.
“What?” Ian and Mark exclaimed in unison.
Ella declared she was done. “I can’t do this, Ian. It feels like this is how our lives will be, and I’m not signing up for it. I’ve booked the next flight back.”
Ian tried to reason with her, but Ella had made up her mind. The trip, meant to be a proposal, ended in an unexpected breakup.
