Millionaire Pretends to Be Poor Meeting the Parents of His Son’s Fiancee — Story of the Day

Sam Sutton, a self-made millionaire, wanted his son, Will, to be loved for who he was, not for his wealth. After losing his wife, Sam raised Will alone, spoiling him in the process. But when Will realized his high school popularity was due to his dad’s money, he decided to attend Yale, posing as a poor scholarship student.

At Yale, Will met Eddy, the love of his life, and proposed. When Eddy’s wealthy parents met Will, they disapproved, assuming he was poor. Sam, who supported Will’s modest lifestyle, also played along, arriving at Christmas in shabby clothes and on a bus.

Eddy’s parents tried to humiliate Sam and Will, gifting Will an extravagant car. But Sam surprised them by gifting the couple a deed to a brownstone in New York. Shocked, Eddy’s parents learned of Sam’s immense fortune, realizing they had judged Will wrongly.

From that moment, Eddy’s parents welcomed Will, and he and Eddy married happily. Later, they had a daughter, Rain, and Sam moved close by to be part of their growing family.
