Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan have enjoyed a nearly 35-year marriage filled with love and laughter, even in the face of Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. The couple initially had their doubts, with Pollan thinking Fox was full of himself upon their first meeting. However, after working together, she saw his true character – smart and funny.
Their bond was tested when Fox received a diagnosis of young-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1991. Pollan’s unwavering support reassured him that he was still the man he was before the diagnosis. Despite dealing with Fox’s alcohol addiction, Pollan stood by his side, encouraging him to make the necessary change.
In 2000, Fox embraced his diagnosis, founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and continued working in defiance of the odds. Acceptance and gratitude have become key aspects of Fox’s outlook on life, helping him appreciate his family, career, and the new people he meets daily.
