When Keanu was at the height of his early career, his sister, Kim, was diagnosed with leukemia. This FATEFUL DAY was a pivotal moment for him, drastically turning his priorities. Despite the demands of his rising fame, he became more than just a brother to his sister; he was her PRIMARY CAREGIVER.

Seeing the PAIN and SUFFERING cancer brought upon Kim and others in similar situations ignited a deep-seated desire to make a difference. As Kim battled the disease, Keanu quietly began giving millions from his movie earnings to children’s hospitals and cancer research. 70% of his “Matrix” salary was a big part of his charity.

His contributions didn’t stop at financial support. Keanu has visited children’s hospitals in his spare time, bringing joy and a bit of starlight to those enduring their DARKEST moments. He does so without media attention, preferring the focus to remain on the children rather than on his celebrity.

Furthermore, Keanu established a private foundation that funds cancer research and aids children’s hospitals. He once confessed: “I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name to it; I just let the foundation do what it does.”

Today, Kim is a cancer survivor, and Keanu continues to be a vocal advocate for cancer research and children’s healthcare. “For me, I guess I don’t connect the enjoyment and the money,” he once admitted. “I work on a part and hopefully realize a part, and make good films. Some of the successes I’ve had I’m grateful for, because it creates OTHER opportunities.”
