I Never Thought That Getting Hit by a Car Would Be the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me — Story of the Day

Lucy once thought she had a loving family and a happy life, but after her divorce, she felt utterly lost. One day, while lost in memories of happier times, a car nearly hit her, jolting her back to reality. The driver, a man in a suit, scolded her, but his companion, George, stepped out, concern in his eyes.

“Are you hurt?” he asked gently. Lucy shook her head, still stunned. He offered her a warm hand, inviting her to a nearby mansion where she could dry off. Inside, the elegance of the home amazed her. As George made tea, Lucy felt comforted, a stark contrast to her recent struggles.

When he introduced his doctor, Lucy’s scraped hands were quickly checked. “You’ll be just fine,” the doctor assured her. As George returned, he looked at her with a warm familiarity. “Do you remember me?” he asked.

“George from high school?” she gasped, recognition dawning. They reminisced about old times, laughter breaking through her sadness. When he asked about her life, Lucy shared her pain—the divorce, her son’s silence, and losing her job.

“I wish things had been different,” she admitted. George took her hand, warmth flooding through her. “But we’re here now,” he said softly.

As they talked, Lucy felt a flicker of hope. “How about dinner?” George suggested, a smile on his face.

“I’d like that,” she replied, warmth blossoming in her heart. In that moment, Lucy realized life still held unexpected joys.
