Helen, a devoted grandmother, thought she had weathered all of life’s storms. However, a revelation was about to challenge her beliefs.

It began during a visit to her son Matt and his wife Jennifer’s home, two weeks after their son Jake was born. Holding Jake, Helen noticed his green eyes and auburn hair, features unlike her family’s. Jennifer quickly said, “He has his grandfather’s eyes, doesn’t he? From my side of the family,” but Helen’s doubts grew.

Driven by suspicion, Helen acquired a DNA test kit and revealed it at Jennifer’s 30th birthday. The test confirmed Helen’s suspicions. Jennifer confessed Jake was from an affair before she met Matt. Heartbroken, Matt asked Jennifer, “How could you let me believe Jake was mine?” Jennifer, sobbing, replied, “I thought I would lose you if you knew the truth.”

Matt decided to end their marriage. Seeking comfort, he asked Helen, “How do I move past this?” Helen assured him, “We’ll take it one step at a time. Your bond with Jake remains untarnished by this deceit.”
