I Destroyed My Child’s Wedding And Don’t Have An Inch Of Disappointment! Am I Off-Base For Feeling This?

Attending my son Mike’s wedding, I couldn’t ignore his neglect of Tommy, his son with Jane. Mike abandoned them when Tommy, who has Down syndrome, was born.

Feeling compelled to act, I arrived with Tommy and halted the ceremony, exposing Mike’s past actions. My goal was to make him realize his responsibilities as a father.

But the outcome was unexpected. Mike’s fiancée was furious and left, leaving Mike in a whirlwind of emotions.

Reflecting on my decision, I’m unsure if disrupting the wedding was right. Though my intention was to prompt change, the consequences were severe.

I may have crossed a line, but I hoped to highlight the seriousness of Mike’s neglect. Only time will tell if my actions lead to a better future for Tommy.
