I Came Home from Business Trip & Found My Son’s Drawing with His ‘New Mommy’ – I Recognized the Woman from the Cafe

I’m Harper, and a simple drawing turned my world upside down. My son Marcus drew himself with someone I didn’t recognize, titled “Me and my new Mommy.” I was devastated, suspecting my husband Shawn of infidelity.

Determined to uncover the truth, I suggested we visit our favorite café, “At Jack’s,” mentioned in the drawing. There, we met Jessica, a waitress with the same blonde hair and red earrings as in Marcus’s drawing. My heart raced as I asked Marcus if she was his “new mommy.”

Marcus innocently explained he wished she were his mommy because she was kind and always present, unlike me, who was often away for work. Jessica had encouraged him to share his feelings with me. Realizing how my absence hurt my son, I promised to be more present.

Back home, I called my boss and arranged to stop my business trips. That evening, as I tucked Marcus into bed, he asked if I would really be home more. I assured him I would be.

Shawn joined us, and we hugged, reaffirming our commitment to each other. From that day on, I prioritized my family above all else, cherishing the love we shared. The drawing that once filled me with fear became a reminder of the importance of being present for my loved ones.
