When Clara realizes she grabbed the wrong suitcase at the airport, she doesn’t expect anything unusual. But as she opens it, her jaw drops. Among Bella’s clothes lies a mysterious envelope. Clara freezes when she sees the handwriting: “Open When Clara Is Not Around!”
Mom’s birthday weekend had been lovely. Bella and Clara packed their identical suitcases into the Uber, then said their goodbyes. At the airport, they went their separate ways. Clara arrived home, exhausted but content. Opening the suitcase, she found Bella’s things and chuckled at the mix-up. Then, she noticed the envelope.
With a deep breath, Clara opened it and found money inside. Confused, she called Bella, who sounded surprised and clueless. Clara then called Mom. “I found an envelope in Bella’s suitcase with your handwriting on it. It had money.”
Mom sighed. “Oh, Clara, that envelope was meant for you. It was supposed to be a surprise. Your dad and I wanted to help you buy a new car. Bella suggested we surprise you. We accidentally mixed up the suitcases.”
Clara felt a wave of relief. “So, you weren’t giving Bella money for the bag she wanted?”
Mom chuckled. “No, Clara. The money was always meant for you. We wanted to show you we support you, even if we didn’t have much to give.”
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Clara called Bella. “Hey, Bella. I talked to Mom. Thank you for the surprise. It means a lot.”
Bella laughed. “No problem, Clara. We just wanted to help. I’m glad you found the surprise, even if it was a bit mixed up!”
“I was so stupid to act like that,” Clara said. “Thanks for everything. Love you so much!”
