One Saturday morning, April stepped into her backyard and noticed something was off. Her husband, Benedict, was supposed to be mowing the lawn but was instead staring at their new neighbor Angela’s yard. When April joined him, she saw Angela burying something large wrapped in a tarp in her flower bed. Alarmed, she whispered, “Benedict, are you seeing this?”
Angela looked up and saw them watching. April pulled Benedict and said, “We’re calling the police.” Her hands trembled as she dialed 911, “There’s a woman burying something in her yard. It looks like a body.”
The police arrived quickly. Officers approached Angela’s yard, who stood frozen. “It’s not what it looks like!” she exclaimed. The officers uncovered the tarp, revealing a lifelike mannequin. Angela explained, “I’m an artist. I specialize in hyper-realistic sculptures.”
After verifying Angela’s story, an officer said, “Her story checks out. This was just a big misunderstanding.” April apologized, “I’m so sorry. I just… I thought…” Angela responded, “I get it. It did look pretty suspicious.”
Angela suggested, “Maybe next time, we can just talk?” April agreed, “Absolutely. I’d like that.” As Benedict started mowing the lawn, life returned to normal with a newfound friendship. April reflected, “Life in the suburbs, huh?”
