I Received a Wedding Invitation from My “Ex” Husband, Who Didn’t Know We Were Still Married — Story of the Day

I thought my relationship with Richard, my ex-husband, was improving. Despite our separation, I still loved him and regretted initiating the divorce. We stayed friends, and I hoped we could get back together soon. But everything changed one sunny afternoon.

A letter from Richard arrived, elegantly addressed, and my heart skipped a beat. Inside was an invitation to Richard’s wedding with another woman named Vanessa. “No, this can’t be right,” I whispered. I realized I hadn’t signed the divorce papers, clinging to the hope of reconciliation.

Determined to talk to Richard, I drove to his house the next morning. As I approached, I overheard Vanessa and her mother discussing their plan to use Richard for his money. “Just make sure he doesn’t find out about our plan,” her mother said. I knew I had to warn him.

When I told Richard, he was furious. “You’re trying to ruin my wedding because you’re jealous,” he accused. He demanded I sign the divorce papers immediately. With a heavy heart, I did, still warning him about Vanessa’s true intentions.

On the wedding day, I decided to attend secretly. During the ceremony, Vanessa’s mother burst in, claiming Richard was bankrupt. Panic spread, and Vanessa fled. After the guests left, Richard approached me. “I’m sorry I didn’t believe you,” he said. He had tested Vanessa with a rumor of his bankruptcy.

“Would you like to spend a vacation together?” he asked. I smiled, “Yes, Richard. I’d love that.” As we walked out hand in hand, I felt hopeful for our future, a new beginning built on trust and love.
