Richard visits his daughter Deidre for his eightieth birthday, only to find her in tears. Despite her attempts to send him away, Richard senses trouble and peeks through her window, discovering two men threatening her over unpaid loan repayments to a gangster, Mr. Marco.

Determined to help, Richard follows the men to their hideout and offers to repay Deidre’s $80,000 debt. Mr. Marco suggests smuggling cars across the border instead, and Richard reluctantly agrees. While driving one of the cars, a police dog at a gas station alerts officers, leading Richard into a high-speed chase that ends with him ditching the car in a river.

Richard mortgages his house to gather the $80,000 and confronts Mr. Marco, who becomes furious upon learning about the lost car and its hidden contraband. The situation escalates until police, tipped off by the submerged car, raid the hideout and apprehend Mr. Marco.

Afterward, Deidre apologizes, saying, “I dragged you into this whole mess,” while Richard reassures her, “You are not a failure!” and promises, “Everything’s going to be okay.” He adds, “Maybe your business idea didn’t work out as well as you’d hoped, but you tried, Deidre. I wish you’d felt comfortable enough to tell me what was really going on in your life.”

Richard’s actions not only resolve Deidre’s immediate danger but also strengthen their relationship, highlighting the importance of family support and communication in times of crisis.
