Ben arrived at his recently deceased grandfather’s house to find it being demolished. Shocked, he confronted the crew and saw his estranged brother, Lucas, overseeing the destruction. “Why are you tearing down Grandpa’s house?” Ben demanded, only to learn Lucas had sold it for a fast-food restaurant. “I promised Grandpa I would fix this house,” Ben said, feeling betrayed.
Returning home from a business trip, Ben learned from Mrs. Turner, his grandpa’s neighbor, that his grandfather had died. “Your grandfather… passed away this afternoon,” she informed him. Ben, who was raised by his grandfather after their parents died, rushed home to fulfill his promise to fix up the house.
At the funeral, Ben noticed Lucas’s absence and was reminded of his brother’s choice of money over family. Determined to honor his grandfather’s wish, Ben drove to the house the next morning, only to see it being demolished. Confronting Lucas, Ben said, “You sold our grandfather’s house? Without even talking to me?”
Lucas, whose investors had backed out, admitted defeat. “I’m financially ruined, Ben. I sold my house, and now I’m deep in debt.” Desperate, he asked to stay with Ben. “I can’t forgive you, Lucas,” Ben replied. “You need to face the consequences of your actions.”
Resolute, Ben watched Lucas walk away and turned back to the ruins. Determined to honor his grandfather’s memory, Ben decided to rebuild the house, even if it meant doing it alone.
