Girl Throws Away Cheap Old Ring Her Poor Grandma Gave Her, It Suddenly Opens — Story of the Day

“What’s this? Some old, cheap ring in a pathetic-looking box? You were greedy then, and you’ll always be! Out from my wedding!” Emma hissed at her poor old granny when she got a small red box as her wedding present. The young woman threw it away in disgust, but when the box clicked open, she stood back in shock.

After a whirlwind courtship, Emma was marrying Dylan, a loving, accomplished man. But the joy of her wedding day was marred by an unexpected visitor—her Gran, Martha, whom she hadn’t invited. Emma confronted her angrily, recalling Martha’s refusal to sell her bakery to save Emma’s father from prison. Her father had died in jail, and Emma never forgave Martha.

Martha, with tears in her eyes, handed Emma a small jewelry box as a wedding gift. Emma threw it away in disgust. When it opened, a ring rolled out, revealing hidden diamonds. Shocked, Emma found a note from Martha inside.

“Dear Emma,” it read, “I know you hate me. Your father wasn’t a good man, and I couldn’t save him. I saved the bakery for your future. This ring and the money my lawyer will give you are my wedding gift. I hope you can forgive me. Love, Martha.”

Realizing her mistake, Emma drove to Martha’s house, only to learn from a neighbor that Martha had passed away recently, having saved all her money for Emma instead of her own treatment. Overwhelmed with guilt and sorrow, Emma wished she could apologize and reconcile.
