My Dad Said I Had to Look Like My Stepmom to Be Included in His Will – When I Found Out Why, I Went Pale

When Penelope’s dad insisted she change her appearance to resemble her stepmom for a spot in his will, it felt like a cruel joke. But the real reason behind his demand, unveiled at a family gathering, left her in shock and tears.

Penny’s parents, Charlie and Nina, divorced ten years ago. Charlie remarried Eloise, and Penny rarely saw him after that. Out of the blue, he called her and requested she dye her hair blonde and ditch her glasses to fit in with his new family. In exchange, he hinted at a spot in his will.

Penny was livid but agreed to attend his Fourth of July party in disguise. She wore a blonde wig and contacts, along with a dress her mom gave her. At the party, her dad was shocked to see her in that dress.

He revealed it was the same dress Penny’s mom wore on their first date, and he couldn’t bear seeing Penny because she reminded him of her mom. He admitted his request stemmed from his inability to cope with his emotions.

Penny stood her ground, refusing to change her identity. She suggested her dad seek closure with her mom. He realized he needed to face his past to move forward. The party ended with Penny feeling hopeful but still angry at her dad for putting her through such an ordeal. Now, she seeks advice on whether to mend things with him or move on.
