I Took My Fiancé to Visit My Parents — He Ran Out Screaming ‘I Can’t Believe It!’ in the Middle of the Night

My fiancé and I were together for six years, but our engagement hit a snag when he discovered my parents’ unconventional lifestyle. We had planned a family visit before our wedding, staying at my childhood home.

During our stay, Adam struggled to sleep in an unfamiliar bed and went for a walk. Suddenly, he screamed, discovering my mother kissing another man. Shocked and angry, he demanded an explanation. My mother revealed their open marriage, a truth I had kept from Adam.

Adam felt betrayed, linking this revelation to his past trauma from his mother’s infidelity. He packed and left for a hotel to reevaluate our engagement. I spent the night crying, realizing the impact of my parents’ choices on our relationship.

The next day, I joined him at the hotel, and we decided to stay at my grandmother’s house for the rest of our visit. The atmosphere between us was tense, filled with unsaid words and unresolved emotions.

In the end, we agreed to seek therapy to address Adam’s fears and my shame. We’re now committed to healing and understanding each other, facing our challenges together.
