“Divorce? John, tell me you’re not serious!” Nicky exploded as her husband announced he wanted to live freely and divorce her.
John smirked. “Oh, Nicky! We both know there’s nothing left between us. I want to live with someone beautiful, not a dead goat like you. So, yes, I’m divorcing you.”
Nicky snarled, “You wish! You won’t get a single penny or a share!”
John retorted, “I’ll compel you to sign the papers! I’m leaving for Mexico in an hour. I used up nearly all our savings. Let’s see how long you last without money, dear.”
Three months later, John returned, pleading for forgiveness. “Nicky, I’m sorry! Maddison, the young girl I left with, conned me! She took all my money and made me cook and clean for her. She said she’d marry me, but it was all fake!”
Nicky, stunned, replied, “Oh, John, that’s terrible.” Then the doorbell rang. “Just a minute, let me see who’s there.”
John was shocked to see Maddison. “Nicky, she’s the one who robbed me!”
Nicky and Maddison burst out laughing. “Meet Maddison, my friend’s daughter. I warned you, John. This was all a trap!”
John exploded, “You did this on purpose?! You will regret it, Nicky!”
“No, John,” Nicky yelled. “You will. Take your luggage and leave. I’m divorcing you, and you won’t get a single cent. GET OUT NOW!”
A few months later, Nicky was divorced. Their children supported her, ridiculing John for his actions. Nicky and Maddison enjoyed their victory with a cup of raspberry tea.
