When Tammy gets a panicked call from her 13-year-old daughter, Piper, she rushes home. Piper said a woman was with her husband, Paul, and they were locked in the master bedroom.
Tammy excused herself from her conference call and drove home, thoughts of betrayal racing through her mind. Paul was the most considerate person she knew, but Piper wouldn’t lie. Upon arriving, she didn’t alert Paul, wanting to catch him in the act. She heard sounds from the bedroom and pushed the door open, camera ready.
To her shock, Paul was massaging a woman. Tammy’s anger turned to confusion as she realized Paul, a reiki master and masseur, was working from their bedroom because his office was being renovated. The woman’s loud whimpers had frightened Piper, but it was clear Paul was only doing his job.
Tammy apologized and found Piper hiding in her room. She decided to make cookies to calm herself and explain the situation to Piper. As they baked, Tammy reassured Piper, explaining some massages are intense but meant to heal. Piper seemed to understand.
Tammy went back to apologize to Paul and his client. Alone with Paul, she admitted her fears. Paul understood and promised to communicate better, including with Piper. Tammy suggested Paul talk to Piper directly.
Downstairs, Paul made ice cream sandwiches and sat with Piper to explain. Tammy showered, feeling the tension dissipate. They had stumbled, but they found their way back to trust. As Tammy joined them, the family embraced their renewed understanding and stronger connection.
