He Purchased an Old Photo for Just $2 at a Flea Market

Thrilling Discovery: Unveiling the Billy the Kid Photo

Amateur collector Randy Guijarro’s advice rings true as he shares his tale of finding a rare photograph of Wild West outlaw Billy the Kid. Guijarro stumbled upon the historic image in 2010, purchasing three tintypes for $2 each from a Fresno thrift store.

The 4×5 inch tintype showcases Billy the Kid and his gang playing croquet in 1878, only the second authenticated photograph of the figure. After five years of investigation, the photo’s authenticity was confirmed. The photo’s estimated value is now in the millions.

Guijarro, along with his wife Linda, plans to use some of their newfound fortune to explore neglected historical events globally, driven by the excitement of uncovering the past together.
