Old Man Comes to Store with Grocery List for Wife, Cashier Later Learns He Doesn’t Have a Wife at All — Story of the Day

Emma, a grocery store cashier, notices Roger missing his weekly shopping and decides to check on him. She finds Roger unwell, and to her surprise, discovers his wife passed away four years ago. Roger still buys ingredients for her favorite chicken pot pie, hoping she’ll return.

Emma cooks a meal for Roger, realizing he’s been living in a fantasy. Roger admits to feeling unwell, and Emma promises to help him. She starts cooking healthy meals for him weekly, improving his health. They bond, and Roger sees Emma as a daughter figure.

“You are the daughter I never had, Emma. Thank you for taking care of me,” Roger expresses his gratitude.

“Thank you for being my second dad, Roger. I enjoy spending time with you,” Emma replies, cherishing their newfound friendship.
