My DIL Wants Me to Babysit Her Kids 9 Hours a Day for a Week

A grandmother sought advice on Reddit after her daughter-in-law asked her to care for her grandchildren for a week as she returned to work. The daughter-in-law had been a stay-at-home mom for four years but recently secured a job, leading to childcare challenges.

The grandmother, however, declined the request, citing her daughter-in-law’s extensive rules for the children, including a vegetarian diet, language restrictions, and a rigid schedule. The daughter-in-law also disapproved of the grandmother’s friends being around the children.

Expressing her concerns on Reddit, the grandmother questioned whether she was wrong for refusing to babysit, leading to mixed responses from the online community.

In a phone call, the daughter-in-law pleaded with the grandmother not to jeopardize her job opportunity due to lack of childcare, creating a complex family situation.
