Nancy left her father’s firm with her boyfriend, Christian, when a familiar voice stopped her. A homeless man, scruffy and layered in worn clothes, sat nearby. She recognized him instantly—Joe, her high school sweetheart. Despite Christian’s disdain, Nancy embraced Joe and learned life had been rough for him. Ignoring her boyfriend’s protests, she offered Joe money for clothes and a job at the firm.
The next day, Joe arrived at work looking determined. Christian mocked him, but Joe focused on his tasks. Soon, Joe noticed Christian’s suspicious closeness with a colleague, Lily. Later, he saw them leaving Christian’s office, Lily holding a thick envelope of cash. Curiosity led Joe to search Christian’s desk, but Christian caught him and fired him on the spot. Nancy arrived mid-argument; Christian covered with a story about a surprise ring, making Nancy send Joe away.
Outside, Joe waited for Christian. He confronted him, claiming to know his secrets and producing incriminating documents. Christian dismissed them, boasting that the real evidence was on his external hard drive. Unbeknownst to him, Nancy overheard and recorded his confession. She stepped out, demanding the drive.
Security intervened, and police soon uncovered the envelope of cash in Lily’s desk. Combined with Nancy’s recording, the truth about Christian’s “creative accounting” was undeniable. Christian was taken away, his schemes exposed.
Nancy turned to Joe, apologizing for doubting him. Joe forgave her, grateful for the kindness she’d shown when he had nothing. He admitted he only wanted to protect her and her father’s firm from harm.
They hugged, uncertain about the future but relieved the truth had come out. Nancy knew Joe’s loyalty hadn’t changed, no matter how much life had.
