Man Whose Wife Died at Childbirth Ponders Giving up Baby until He Sees Her Texts with a Friend — Story of the Day

David was devastated after the birth of his daughter, Georgina, when his wife, Joan, passed away. Grief-stricken, he couldn’t bear to look at their baby or go through her things. His mother took charge, but eventually, she urged David to see a therapist, and after months of struggling, he began healing.

One day, David finally found the courage to sort through Joan’s belongings. Inside her hospital bag, he discovered her cellphone. He charged it and read through the messages. At first, there were congratulatory texts, but then he found a troubling message from Joan’s friend, Melissa: “It’s a pity you sacrificed your life…” David was shocked. Joan had been warned about the dangers of her pregnancy, but she had refused to terminate it, choosing to fulfill David’s dream of having a child.

As he read through their conversation, David realized the sacrifice Joan had made. Overcome with guilt and sadness, he vowed to honor her by being the best father he could be for Georgina. He called his mother and said, “I’m ready now.”

David had come to terms with his grief, determined to raise his daughter with all the love and appreciation Joan had intended. It was time to start his journey as a father, honoring his late wife’s memory.
