Jessica had always taken her grandmother, Donna, for granted, often mocking her and even excluding her from her wedding. When Donna fell ill and moved to New York, things only worsened between them. On the day of Jessica’s wedding, Donna didn’t attend, and Jessica felt relieved.
The day after the wedding, Jessica opened her door to find Donna with an old chest in hand. Annoyed, Jessica demanded to know why she was there. Donna calmly explained she had come to deliver a wedding gift. Jessica dismissed her, but Donna insisted on saying hello to Jessica and her new husband, Edward.
Later, after returning from her honeymoon, Jessica learned Donna had passed away. Distracted by her own life, she barely felt the loss until she noticed the chest Donna had given her. Skeptical, she opened it to find a beautiful diamond pendant, a photo album, and a heartfelt letter from Donna.
In the letter, Donna expressed her love and regret for not being able to give Jessica everything she wanted. She explained that the gift was from her own savings, hoping to show her love.
As Jessica read the words, tears streamed down her face. Overwhelmed with guilt, she realized the depth of Donna’s love. Sitting by her grandmother’s grave later, she held the pendant tightly and whispered, “I’m so sorry, Grandma. I never appreciated you, but I love you now.”
