Old Lady Who Owns a $2M Mansion Disinherits Daughter-In-Law after Hearing Her Phone’s Ringtone — Story of the Day

Mrs. Campbell, a wealthy widow, owned a mansion and once ran a successful business. After her son James died, she transferred his business to his wife, Stacy, out of sympathy for her and their daughter, Andie. Stacy began visiting more, showering Mrs. Campbell with affection and calling her “mom,” which warmed the older woman’s heart.

When Stacy requested a grand birthday party for Andie, Mrs. Campbell eagerly complied. During the party, Stacy lost her phone, and Mrs. Campbell offered to help find it. Upon calling the phone, Mrs. Campbell was shocked to hear a ringtone of a barking dog and saw that Stacy had saved her number as “monster-in-law.”

Devastated, Mrs. Campbell realized Stacy’s affection was only an act to secure her inheritance. Without confronting Stacy, she altered her will, leaving everything to Andie, ensuring her granddaughter wouldn’t access the funds until she was of legal age. Stacy was removed entirely from the will.

Mrs. Campbell also reconnected with an old friend, Ruth, paying her hospital bills and promising to enjoy life together once Ruth recovered. Additionally, she donated a portion of her wealth to create a dog shelter in memory of her late husband, son, and her beloved dog, Pepper. Through these acts, Mrs. Campbell ensured her legacy would support those she truly cared about.
