Returning from their idyllic honeymoon, Lori and Chris were eager to settle into married life. However, their homecoming was marred by a large black box sitting in their hallway, with a note instructing Lori to open it alone. Chris, confused, agreed to open it together, concerned it might be dangerous.
Inside the box was a massive stuffed bear with a red heart that read “Press Me.” Lori hesitated but pressed the heart. To their shock, a child’s voice emerged, calling out for “Daddy” and expressing loneliness. The voice sounded like Chris’s, and as the recording continued, Lori learned it was Chris’s daughter, Kira, who had died after he abandoned her and her mother.
A letter accompanying the bear revealed the heartbreaking truth: Chris had left his sick daughter and her mother three years prior. The letter detailed the struggle and sorrow Chris’s abandonment caused, including the court documents for child support.
Lori confronted Chris, who admitted to trying to escape his past but failed to anticipate the revelation. Disgusted and betrayed, Lori couldn’t reconcile the man she had married with the person described in the letter. She demanded Chris leave, unable to stay with someone who could abandon his own child.
As Chris packed his things, Lori sat alone, grappling with the pain and betrayal. The house felt cold and quiet, and she resolved to file for divorce, unable to forgive or forget the man who had hidden such a dark secret.
