My Busy Dad Never Spends Time with Us and Treats Mom Iike a Servant — My Brother & I Taught Him a Lesson

My brother Josh and I felt invisible in our own home, as Dad always treated Mom like a servant and ignored us. It all boiled over one evening when Dad snapped at Mom for something trivial, and we decided it was time to act.

The next day, we convinced Mom to take a well-deserved break. As Dad returned home, Josh and I greeted him, dressed in his oversized clothes, mimicking his dismissive behavior. “Where’s dinner?” I demanded. Dad was confused, but soon realized we were acting out how he treated us and Mom.

The room fell silent as our message hit home. “Is this really how you see me?” Dad asked, his voice softer than I’d ever heard. We explained how hurtful his actions were, how hard Mom worked, and how neglected we felt.

When Mom came back, surprised by the scene, Dad admitted his mistakes, tears in his eyes. He immediately went into the kitchen to make dinner, promising to change.

That night, Dad genuinely listened to us, asked about our day, and even offered to help me study for an upcoming test. It felt strange, but for the first time in years, our family was together.

Though things wouldn’t be perfect overnight, we knew this was a real start. For once, we weren’t invisible anymore.
