13-year-old boy stops kidnapper with a $3 toy his mom bought for him

Owen Burns, a 13-year-old from Michigan, displayed immense bravery when he saved his 8-year-old sister from a kidnapping attempt. It started as a typical afternoon as Owen prepared to play his favorite video game when he heard his sister screaming. Initially annoyed, he turned to see a stranger trying to drag his sister into the nearby woods. Owen grabbed his slingshot and other objects as makeshift ammo and took aim.

He hit the kidnapper twice, first between the eyes and then in the chest. The kidnapper released Owen’s sister, and she ran inside the house, terrified but unharmed. The Michigan State Police confirmed that the 17-year-old kidnapper would face adult charges. Owen’s heroic actions received praise from the authorities, and his quick thinking saved his sister from a potentially dangerous situation.
